Palworld settings not saving? Why the ini is ignored
Updated 24 October 2026 · 3 minute read · Palworld · By Exclsv Support
Two things undo Palworld settings: Palworld overwrites PalWorldSettings.ini edits made while it runs, and a WorldOption.sav file in the save folder silently overrides the ini.
Edits made while it runs
Palworld writes its settings file itself, so changes made while the server is running are lost. Stop the server first, edit, check, then start it again.
WorldOption.sav
When a WorldOption.sav file exists in the world’s save folder, Palworld takes world settings from it and ignores the ini. Remove it, with a backup first, if you want the ini to count.
Everything is on one line
All the settings sit inside one line, OptionSettings=(…). A missing bracket or comma breaks the whole line.
On Exclsv
Change settings in HQ’s form instead. HQ writes PalWorldSettings.ini only while the server is stopped, checks it, then starts it, and it deals with WorldOption.sav. The server name, passwords, player limit and crossplay are written on every start from your settings in HQ.
If it doesn’t work
My server name keeps changing back
The name, passwords, player limit and crossplay come from HQ and are written on every start. Change them in HQ, not in the file.
